Dr. Shi Zhong

Dr. Zhong is an experienced professional in applying data mining and machine learning techniques to solve online search, internet advertising, marketing optimization, and business data analytics problems. He is extremely enthusiastic about formulating practical and impactful data mining problems in the afore-mentioned areas and prototyping solutions. He is now working as a senior scientist for Zilliant in Austin.

Experience Highlights

In November 2007, Dr. Zhong joined the Pricing Science Group at Zilliant, a pricing optimization software company in Austin, Texas. He is currently enjoying the work on segmentation, demand modeling, and optimization.

Before Zilliant, he had been with Yahoo! Data Mining and Research group since December 2005. At Yahoo, he worked on a range of really interesting data mining problems, including advertiser content risk classification, Yahoo data mining platform, behavioral targeting, user segmentation and profiling, and advertiser analytics.

Before 2003, he had interned with Honeywell Technology Center (Minneapolis MN), Pavilion (Austin TX), Compaq (Austin TX), and IBM (Austin TX), working on different pattern recognition and data mining problems and applications.

Throughout his academic career (-2005), Dr. Zhong has done research in the areas of intelligent data analysis and data mining, machine learning, image processing, and pattern recognition. He has published more than 30 (journal and conference) papers, with an emphasis on clustering, feature reduction, and semi-supervised learning.
